Today marked the State Opening of Parliament, with the King's Speech setting out the Government's priorities for the coming year. The Speech struck a balance between planning for the future and protecting and supporting people now.

Through continuing our work to bring down inflation ease the cost of living, support businesses and deliver energy security and renter reform, we will deliver for households and businesses. At the same time we also continue our work to ensure Britain remains at the forefront of STEM investment, research and development, through introducing new legal frameworks to support emerging industries and new competition rules for digital markets. This will support sectors such as electric vehicle development and rollout, ensuring future opportunities and growth.

I look forward to supporting these Bills as they progress through Parliament.
