I am delighted to have been informed by Surrey County Council that plans for the Ottershaw roundabout are to be reviewed following representations made by myself and local councillors.
As residents will be aware, funding has been approved for improvement works to the A320 (Ottershaw to Chertsey), with information on the proposals having been delivered to residents in and around the affected area. The A320 improvement works will make a huge difference to many people living across Runnymede and Weybridge and as with all infrastructure works we also need to ensure they work with our local communities. While approval has already been granted for the scheme as a whole, there are two areas which require further consultation as part of the planning process which are the roundabout at Holloway Hill, Chertsey, and the Ottershaw roundabout.
I have been contacted by a number of residents, especially in relation to the Ottershaw roundabout proposals (available here) and have been working with local representatives to ensure residents voices are heard.
The key concerns that have so far been raised to me are:
- Protecting the unity of Ottershaw village.
- Ease of crossing.
- The location of the car park and ensuring it remains close to Brook Hall.
- Addressing concerns over the repositioning of access to Brox Road and the potential impact this would have and the use of Brox Road as a ‘rat run’.
Working alongside County Councillors Jonathan Hulley and Scott Lewis, we have raised these concerns with the Council, and I am delighted they are looking at alternative solutions for Junction 10 (Ottershaw) and will not submit the planning application until they can find a design that attempts to address the key concerns.
