Letter from Dr Ben Spencer to the Health Secretary regarding Minimum Service Levels consultation

In response to the Government decision to consult on introducing Minimum Service Levels for NHS hospital-based services, I have written to the Secretary of State setting out my support. Ensuring NHS services are protected is not just a matter of policy, it is personal for each and every one of us who has relied on their services. And ensuring patient care must be at the heart of every decision and debate in the NHS.

Due to the recent actions of the BMA, patient care has been put at risk. While people do have the right to strike, this must be qualified where it is clear that it will result in significant harm.  I therefore fully support bringing hospital medical care into the scope of the Minimum Service Level regulations. Please see my letter in full below.
