Nominations for the White Hart in New Haw showcase a fantastic community pub, with a lovely family friendly beer garden on the bank of the Wey Navigation, with a great range of food and drink.
While it unfortunately wasn't possible to meet with manager Zoey on my recent visit, I did get to catch up with members of the team who highlighted that the friendly atmosphere isn't only appreciated by customers, but also the close-knit staff who work there. It is clear the whole team really does go the extra mile to make everyone across the community welcome, maintaining a tradition of serving great food, real ales, and warm hospitality on the site since 1787. They also host a great range of regular events, from quiz nights and karaoke to paint and sip.
Catching up after my visit, Zoey said:

Their care and warmth create the relaxed, homely atmosphere that people love about The White Hart. Our garden by the river is another highlight, offering a peaceful spot for guests to enjoy good food, drinks, and time together. We also host regular events such as karaoke, quiz nights, charity fund raising nights and live entertainment that bring people together and make the pub a real hub for the community.
We’re proud to welcome all kinds of groups and bookings, from family celebrations to local gatherings. Recently, we hosted a local dementia group, which reminded us how important pubs are in creating connections and supporting everyone in the community.
Being nominated and shortlisted means the world to us. It shows that our guests and community value what we do and that The White Hart is a place people genuinely care about. This recognition motivates us to keep doing what we love – creating a space where everyone feels at home and part of something special.
