SWR are planning a major review of their timetable, with a public consultation due to be launched later this year. This is an opportunity to ensure our rail service meets local needs, but to ensure this engagement is vital.
I have been working with SWR throughout the preparation for this review, and have submitted a letter highlighting key local priorities, at their request, to help in the preparation of the consultation expected this autumn. You can view a copy of this below.
We all know the current level of service is not good enough - statistics for May 2026 show less than 65% of all SWR services arrived on time, with high rates of cancellations, causing huge delay and disruption to people's journeys. This service is simply not good enough and the timetabling review must look at ways improvements can be made to ensure passengers receive a more regular, reliable and resilient railway across Runnymede and Weybridge.
This review is an opportunity to address this and some of the specific challenges across our rail network, including impact on school attendance, the impact of level crossings, interchange times and more.
I will be launching my own survey ahead of the official consultation to gain further insight into the priorities of residents across the Runnymede and Weybridge constituency.
Given the difficulty of engaging with schools and colleges over the summer holidays, I am already seeking input to support this work. In February I invited all local schools to a meeting with the review project team to hear how this may affect students and staff, and how they could influence this process. I have also created a survey for schools to provide more detail regarding the level of impact this may have on students and school attendance.
