Dr Ben Spencer MP Urges the Chancellor to Ensure the Energy Rebate is Available to All

Letter to the Chancellor from Dr Ben Spencer MP regarding energy rebate for park home residents

Following concerns raised by constituents, I have today written to the Chancellor urging him to ensure the £400 energy payment announced last month will be available to all residents.

Currently energy is supplied to many park home residents through a centralised supply, meaning the rebate could only be offered to the park home owner who pays the overall bill. Given all residents are affected by rising prices, either directly or as costs are passed on through rising rents and charges, I am asking the Chancellor to look into this and ensure all constituents are able to receive the payment, as announced in May. You can see a copy of my letter below.

This is the latest in a series of actions I am taking to protect park home owners from excessive costs. Earlier this year I raised with Ministers the need to change legislation to ensure annual ground rent increases were linked to CPI, not RPI, and I have also met with Berkeley Homes, who operate a number of park homes within the constituency, regarding service provision and the requirement to pay 10% of the value of any sale to the owner upon completion.

I hope that by pursuing these issues we will be able to achieve a fairer deal for park home residents.
